Emergency Care

What to do in the event of an emergency

In the event of an emergency when we are open please call the practice on 020 8299 2388 immediately.

In the event of an emergency, when all of our clinics are closed (between 7pm – 8am on weekdays and 7pm – 9am on weekends), please call our practice on our usual number 020 8299 2388 to be transferred to Veteris, our new emergency provider.

You will be asked to select an option for the branch you normally go to before your call is connected.

You can instead call with one of our dedicated out-of-hours numbers below if you prefer:

Your call will then be answered by a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) at Veteris.

The RVN will help work through your concerns and whenever possible she or he will give you home advice. When veterinary attention is needed, the RVN will either arrange for a vet to visit your pet in your own home, invite you to reach their facility in Shoreditch or may direct you to one of our other 2 emergency providers (SLERC or The London Animal Hospital) if these are more suitable for you. The nurse will always help you choose the best option for your pet.

Our veterinary colleagues at Veteris are very experienced at providing a wide range of services such as intravenous drips, blood sampling or ultrasound examinations in your pet’s home. If hospitalisation is needed, the nurse or the vet attending your home will arrange transfer to their own facility Veteris located at 51 Hoxton Square, London N1 6PB which is near Old Street in Shoreditch.

The Veteris staff are trained in low-stress handling techniques and carry with them specific equipment and medicines to make your pet as comfortable as possible. We are sent written reports as soon as possible and these are entered into your pet’s medical records at The Neighbourhood Vet.
