Sustainability

At The Neighbourhood Vet, we believe that it is our responsibility to work and live more sustainably. We acknowledge that our operations have a negative environmental impact and as such feel an obligation to do what is in our power to mitigate this impact. Further, it is our professional duty to consider our impacts on public health and the environment under the One Health paradigm. 

This has led to the creation of our Green Team, headed by our senior vet Topaz Koch who is our Sustainability Champion. Because of Topaz’s tireless work and excellent leadership, we are delighted to report that The Neighbourhood Vet achieved the IVC Evidensia Positive Pawprint partner status in 2022, and were one of the first practices in the UK to do this. In November 2023 we signed up to ‘Investors in the Environment’ and are now working towards our Bronze level accreditation.

Topaz and the Green Team have established and are working towards multiple sustainability objectives and goals which will together combine to achieve our commitment to reduce our scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint by 50% by 2030. Please have a read of our Environmental Policy for more detail on what we’re up to in terms of sustainability.
